Ceramics & Sip
The Alcott Center would love to invite you to a lovely evening of learning the basics of hand building ceramics with clay while enjoying BEVerages with the open sky and the Venice sign as your backdrop. Ceramicists Andrea Tan & Ashley McGullam will be teaching this fun-filled class. The techniques you will learn will allow you to make a variety of artsy handmade items. The class is designed to be fun and inspiring for all levels. At the end of this fun event you will be able to make a leaf imprint plate, maybe a cute vase, a cup or a small planter. The possibilities are endless. We are thrilled to be providing this opportunity just in time for the holidays so you can gift your creation! This event will be held at our sponsor Bev's outdoor tasting area in Venice and will feature a silent auction with many exciting items to peruse.
Your ticket includes clay to make your beautiful ceramic piece, glazing and firing of your work, drinks, and appetizers. All proceeds from this event will be supporting accessible mental health and housing services in our community through the Alcott Center. In order to make the event accessible the cost of the ticket is below market rate. If you are able to afford it we appreciate additional donations.
More about the Alcott Center for Mental HealthServices:
The Alcott Center for Mental Health Services has been on the forefront of community mental health services since 1979, meeting the needs of community members who have little to no income and would not otherwise have access to the care they require. In addition to therapy, case and medication management, crisis interventions, trauma-informed studio art classes, Alcott also provides supportive housing for people navigating mental health challenges. The Alcott Center for Mental Health Services recognizes that mental health is multi-faceted and that housing plays an immense role in an individual's mental health. For that reason, Alcott launched and continues to expand supportive housing projects and utilizes trauma-informed property management to help community members maintain housing. Alcott provides transitional and permanent housing throughout LA for community members who are navigating mental health challenges and/or justice-involved reintegration.
