Studio Arts Program

The Studio Arts Program was born from a need for clients to be able to express themselves in an alternative manner.

“The freedom of expressing oneself without words is a great form of therapy,” says accomplished artist and client advocate, Tristan Scremin. “Art has a way of calming the mind and soothing the soul.”

The original art program began over twenty years ago and has remained consistent with Alcott’s goals to create a safe environment that promotes individual growth, recovery, independence, and personal empowerment by addressing the needs of the whole person.

Led by a professional artist instructor at no charge, workshops are conducted in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, block-printing and decoupage. Art gives them a powerful sense of ability and accomplishment from within themselves. The power of creative arts fosters strengths and talents in those who may not have felt this way often in their lives.

Healing Through the Arts

At the Alcott Center, we treat the whole person, integrating mental health treatments with socialization and creative coping outlets. One of our unique ways of treating the person as a whole is through our Therapeutic Arts programs, such as our Studio Arts class. Watch the video to learn more!
